Why Pluto Shouldn’t be a Planet

By: Franklyn W.

In the passages, “What is a Planet?” by NASA and “When is a Planet Not a Planet?” by Daniel Santos, the authors discuss if Pluto should be a planet or should not be a planet. The issue is some people believe that Pluto is not a planet while some believe it is. I strongly stand on the fact that Pluto is not a planet because it does not meet criteria and it doesn’t clear its neighborhood

I very sturdily believe that Pluto should not be a planet because it does not meet the 3 criteria. In my source, it states that it shares its orbit with ice and asteroids. Pluto correspondingly does not meet the size of the other 8 planets. If Pluto was welcomed as a planet then Eris and more planets would have to trail behind it.

For another reason Pluto shouldn’t be a planet is, furthermore since it shares orbit with rock debris and ice. All other 8 planets clear its neighborhood with their gravitational pull, with it the planet attracts then throws the debris. Also one criteria is the size of a planet must be a certain size, which Pluto does not meet.

In conclusion, that is why I strongly agree with scientists that Pluto has been correctly classified. With that, I will conclude my Pluto opinion paper. And,

Rescue Dogs

By: Franklyn W.

Have you ever seen a rescue dog rescuing a buried victim in a avalanche, or been to a farm with graceful, agile, and elegant farm dog herding livestock? In the two informative texts, “It’s a Dog’s Life” by Rebecca Upjohn Snyder and “Hide-and-Seek-School” by Vivienne Lenk, the two discuss about two totally different, but so similar dogs.

These are some reasons of the amazing differences. First of all, the dog’s are different because the border collie Jack works as a “farmer.” This dog goes and brings back items and herds livestock. Quoted from the text “It’s a Dog’s Life” by Rebecca Upjohn Snyder “It is called a pressure point, says David.” “If the dogs get too close, the animals react, often in
panic. If the dogs work too far back, the animals won’t move. The dogs must work at the right  distance to be able to herd the animals without causing them stress. They have to be gentle with

ducks and work close to them. They work further back with sheep. With goats they work closer   and must be more aggressive as goats will stand their ground.”

While the other dogs, Rube, a golden retriever mix, and Rudy, a Labrador mix, Roux, a golden

retriever, and Kodi, an Australian shepherd are rescue dogs in Colorado. Second of all, Jack works on a farm with goats, ducks, sheep, and pigs. In Colorado The dogs  Rube, a golden retriever mix, and Rudy, a Labrador mix, Roux, a golden retriever, and Kodi, an Australian shepherd they are at a “school” for rescue dogs. Finally, rescue dogs Rube, a golden retriever mix, and Rudy, a Labrador mix, Roux, a golden  retriever, and Kodi, an Australian shepherd are up on mountains training to save peoples lives. These dogs risk their lives to save others.

While the dogs may have differrences they also have similarites. Here are similarites. Two terrific dogs, work very hard. The avalanche dogs have to go up ski lifts to get to trapped victims. The farm dogs have to herd animals, but stay safe at the same time. Both dogs have a very “go at it attitude.” They will find the victims, they will do whatever the handeler says. Finally, the dogs both are trained at a puppies age. Quoted from the text “It’s a Dog’s Life” by Rebecca Upjohn Snyder “He will only let a puppy go to a working situation.  Also from “Hide-and-Seek-School” by Vivienne Lenk it states “The dogs’ training begins at home when they’re puppies. They learn simple commands such as

“sit” and “come.” Training at home helps the dogs form an attachment to their handlers.”

In conclusion, those are the reasons why the rescue dogs/ work dogs are very different, but very similar. If I was a farmer I would want a dog just like Jack to be at my right hand side. Wow! If I was trapped as a victim I would really hope a rescue dog would come and save me. Enough of me how bout’ you?

Phones?

I am doing a opinion paper and class and I was hoping you people would help out. My team is doing no phones in school. Way in and say whether you think phones should be in school or not. Please say no to phones. Here’s a reason, too help, they may cause a source of cheating, the other classmates may have money issues, But please go with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really want a good grade.
